Last year, the number of Canadian households with satellite TV rose to nearly 2.5 million, an increase of 170,000, or eight per cent. Although cable TV providers still hold a dominant share of the Canadian market, the number of households with cable TV last year fell by about 24,000 to 6.61 million.</div>
